Roblox Privacy Policy Review

This review explains the Roblox Privacy and Cookie Policy in plain language, for parents of young players, teens, and adults who play. It was checked on October 28, 2026. The version on the page says it is effective November 1, 2026. The page is long, and its last few sections were not read in full. The separate Facial Media Capture notice was not opened. This is not legal advice.

Primary source: Roblox Privacy and Cookie Policy. The company named on that page is Roblox Corporation.

Snapshot

  • Roblox may ask for a selfie to estimate a player’s age. The policy says the facial estimation images are deleted once the check is complete.
  • Voice chat is for users 13 and older, and the policy says Roblox will monitor, collect, use and store audio captured through the device.
  • The policy says Roblox “may use the content you and other users have posted for training,” and uses voice recordings for training with consent.
  • For advertising, it says no personal information from users under 18 is disclosed.
  • Players under 13 are asked to get a parent’s permission, and child accounts get stronger privacy settings automatically.

What they collect

Besides account details and gameplay, the policy says Roblox may collect and track geolocation information for services that depend on knowing where you are. To assess ages, it may collect “images such as a selfie.” For voice, it says it will “monitor, collect, use, and store audio captured through your device” when audio features are used.

Who gets the data

Service providers receive data to run Roblox and, the policy says, “are not allowed to use the information we share for any other purpose, including selling Personal Information.” In the sections read, there was no general sentence saying Roblox itself never sells personal information. On advertising, the policy says: “We do not disclose any Personal Information from users under 18 years old.” Adults can opt out of advertising-related processing in their account’s privacy settings.

Easy to miss

  • Things players post in experiences may be used for training. No opt-out for text content was described in the sections read.
  • A parent who starts linking to a child’s account must finish. Roblox says it deletes the parent’s email within 24 hours if linking is not completed.
  • Roblox says its services do not respond to Do Not Track signals.

New technology

Facial age estimation is the main new-technology issue. A child may be asked to take a selfie to unlock features such as chat. The policy says those images are deleted once age assurance is complete. Voice recordings are used to inform training and product improvement only with consent, according to the policy.

Kids and families

Players under 13 are told to get a parent’s or guardian’s permission, and Roblox says it automatically sets stronger privacy settings on those accounts. Parents can link their own account to a child’s account for controls. Voice chat is only for users 13 and older. Our Roblox parental controls guide walks through the settings.

Older adults

Grandparents are often asked to buy Robux. Buy gift cards only from a store or the official site, and never read a card number to someone who messages your grandchild offering free Robux. Privacy requests go through Roblox’s Customer Support Form or privacy@roblox.com.

What you can turn off

  1. If you are 18 or older, turn off personalized ads in your account’s privacy settings.
  2. On Roblox.com, use the cookie link in the page footer to change cookie options.
  3. Link a parent account to a child’s account and finish the linking, so the child’s settings can be managed.
  4. Leave voice chat off for any player who does not need it. It is only available to users 13 and older.

What this means for you

Roblox protects under-18 players from ad data sharing, but it asks for a selfie to check ages, records voice chat, and may train on what players post. A parent who links accounts and keeps voice chat off for younger kids covers most of the risk.

Does Roblox keep my child’s selfie?

The policy says images taken for facial age estimation are deleted once the age assurance process is complete. The separate Facial Media Capture notice was not opened for this review.

Does Roblox show targeted ads to kids?

The policy says Roblox does not disclose personal information from users under 18 for advertising. Adults control personalized ads in their privacy settings.

This is not legal advice. Checked October 28, 2026 against the version effective November 1, 2026.
